Sessions

A Broad Approach to ‘Art’ in Art Therapy

Art isn’t just about painting or drawing—it can take many forms. In sessions, creativity is approached in an open and inclusive way, embracing:

  • The creativity of conversation—using metaphor and vivid descriptions

  • Lyrics or poetry as a form of self-expression

  • Engaging the imagination through daydreaming and storytelling

  • Photography—capturing moments on your phone

  • Found objects, like fallen leaves or patterns in nature

  • Traditional drawing tools—pencil, charcoal, pastels, or ink

  • Digital or mixed-media approaches

These are just a few examples of what you might bring to a session or where our exploration could take us.

What to Expect in a Session

Each session is tailored to your interests, experience, and comfort level with creativity. No formal artistic background is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Depending on what resonates with you, we may explore:

  • Freewriting or journaling to unlock thoughts and emotions

  • Guided visualizations and storytelling to spark imagination

  • Drawing, mark-making, and sketching with traditional materials

  • Collage-making and assembling found objects

  • Mindful observation of the world around you

  • Digital tools or hand-drawn sketches to explore ideas

Between Sessions

Creative exploration doesn’t end when our session does. You may choose to continue working on ideas—whether through sketches, notes, photographs, or collected objects. In our sessions, we can reflect on what you've created, offering space for discussion, new perspectives, and deeper engagement with your process.

A Space for Discovery

You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or aim to create something polished. The real value lies in the process—the exploration, play, and discovery. My role is to support and guide you, helping you tap into your own creativity in a way that feels natural and meaningful to you.

Whether you're looking to unlock new creative ideas, process emotions, or simply engage with the world in a different way, these sessions provide a space for reflection, expression, and discovery.
